Weston: A Culinary Adventure

The Innkeepers

Weston may be a small town but it features some great dining options. Not many towns of its size feature the variety of restaurants Weston offers. In this post, we feature a couple of our best.

The Avalon Cafe - Fine Dining

Many visitors to Weston are celebrating a birthdays, anniversary, or other special occasions. A special occasion requires a special dinner and Weston's Avalon Cafe delivers.

The Avalon Cafe has been a staple of historical Weston for 30 years. The Avalon is located in an antebellum home originally built in 1847. Locals often called it the "White Lace" for all the white, lacy gingerbread that adorns its long front porch. The Avalon Cafe sits on a hilltop at the corners of Spring and Main Streets of Weston. When the weather is nice, nothing beats sitting out on the Avalon's patio overlooking Weston.

The Avalon Café boasts a wide variety of dishes from the Beef Tenderloin in Missouri Bourbon sauce to the more exotic Ostrich Sirloin with Burgundy and wild berry compote. Or try some Lighter Fare options including baked brie, wood-grilled pizzas, our tantalizing crab cakes, or Avalon gumbo.

The Tin Kitchen - A Firefly Favorite

Located on Main Street, the Tin Kitchen restaurant occupies the old Rumpel Hardware building in the downtown historic district.  Built in 1842, the building has been lovingly restored to preserve all of it’s warmth and charm. The dining rooms showcase the original pressed-tin ceilings and walls.

Tin Kitchen’s menu features some of the best BBQ in Kansas City but the menu features something for everyone. We love their burgers and the Salmon Club is a favorite of Michelle. One thing we both love is their fries. They are some of the best fries we've ever had and on a recent visit ordered them smothered in pulled pork and cheese sauce - so good!

When guest ask for recommendations, the Tin Kitchen is usually at the top of our list.
