Accessibility Statement

Our Physical Location

At Weston Firefly Inn, we welcome all guests to our historic inn, originally built in 1895 and located in Weston, Missouri. The inn features three guest rooms, all located on the second floor.

We are committed to providing a welcoming and comfortable environment for guests with disabilities. We recognise that historic buildings present unique challenges when it comes to full accessibility, and we endeavour to address them as thoughtfully and reasonably as practicable.

Current Accessibility Features and Limitations:

  • Because the guest rooms are all on the second floor of a historic structure, there is no elevator or lift access for guests who cannot use stairs.

  • We offer assistance with luggage, and we are happy to help arrange companion-services or other supports as needed.

  • All pathways to the inn entrance are level and well maintained; if you require assistance arriving at the property, we will gladly assist.

  • For guests with mobility, hearing, vision or other access needs, we encourage you to contact us ahead of your stay and we will work with you to determine how we can best accommodate your needs (for example, arranging alternative lodging or accessible transportation if needed).

  • We review accessibility periodically and make improvements where reasonably possible, consistent also with preserving the historic character of the building.

Legal and Practical Considerations:

Under the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 (“ADA”), Title III requires places of public accommodation—such as inns and hotels—to ensure that individuals with disabilities have full and equal enjoyment of the goods, services, facilities, and accommodations offered.   Even historic buildings are subject to the law. However, the law recognises that in existing facilities, removal of architectural barriers is required only to the extent that it is “readily achievable” (i.e., easily accomplishable without much difficulty or expense) in the circumstances. Because our inn is a historic structure, some barriers (such as lack of an elevator) remain. We evaluate possible barrier removal and improvements regularly.

We aim to provide accurate information about accessibility at our property so guests with disabilities can make informed decisions. If you have questions about whether our facility can accommodate a particular limitation, please contact us in advance so we may discuss options.

Our Website (westonfireflyinn.com)

We are also committed to providing an inclusive web experience via our website. We strive to ensure that our website meets or aligns with the internationally recognised Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 (Level AA) as a goal, to the extent feasible.

What we are doing:

  • We use clear headings, meaningful link text, and alt text for images whenever possible.

  • We maintain good colour contrast, logical page structure and keyboard-navigable menus.

  • We test the website occasionally for accessibility issues and make updates when we become aware of any.

  • If you encounter any difficulty accessing content on our website, we invite you to contact us so we may provide the information in an alternate format (such as by email or telephone) or fix the issue.

Ongoing Review:

We regularly review our website’s accessibility and will update this statement as our website and circumstances evolve.

Future Plans

We are continuously exploring options to enhance accessibility both on-site and online. For the building, we evaluate whether feasible modifications can be made that honour the historic character while improving access. For the website, we plan periodic accessibility audits and will continue to implement improvements as resources permit.

Limitations and Disclaimer

While we endeavour to make our inn and website as accessible as possible, there may be features or circumstances beyond our immediate control. For example, because the building is historic and all guest rooms are on the second floor, full mobility access (via elevator) is not currently available. In the case of the website, while we aim to conform to WCAG 2.1 Level AA, we cannot guarantee every web page is error-free or fully accessible in all browsers or assistive technologies. If you experience difficulty, please contact us and we will do our best to assist.
